News from Greg Luther

American Greg Luther Wins at the BJ (Brian Jones)Invitational at King Naga Golf Club, in Rayong Thailand!

King Naga Golf ClubTuesday January 2nd, 2018 was very hot and windy at King Naga GC. Wind gusts up to 25 mph at times made the bunker covered, and water locked course play much more difficult and much longer than its 7,000 yards! With three other Americans, and 22 Thai players rounding out the field the one day tournament was very competitive and exciting! Luther was ahead by 4 shots going into hole #15, but Kip Kip Boonchar birdied the next three holes, and was only one behind standing on 18! "I was admittedly nervous standing on the 18th tee box knowing that my 4 shot lead was now only one." "I was just trying to do the same practices that I teach my players at my school to do when they are feeling a bit of pressure." I’m comfortable when it’s on me, because I’ve been in this same situation many times. So I was ok with the pressure." "Well, anyone that knows me knows that I’m a fantastic driver of the ball, but this time I hit a bit of a going hook." "Nearly out of bounds, but just in." "Then a very solid 3 hybrid to the front of the green, and a routine two putt to win my first Tournament in Thailand!" Luther was the oldest player in the field by 20 years, and at 49 will return to America to play senior mini tours when he turns 50 in march.

Greg has been playing and been around golf from the early age of 5 years old, and has come from a great pedigree of players including father Jim and grandfather Ted Luther who played on the PGA Tour for more than 20 years! Greg himself played professional golf on mini tours all around the world and has amassed over 100 victories as a junior amateur and a professional player.

Playing and teaching all around the world, Greg has learned from the best players and teachers this great game has to offer.

As a teacher and a coach, Greg has more than 250 championships under his belt! With the intention to play on the Senior Tour when he turns 50, Greg’s love and passion for the game has never been stronger. All of that was nearly taken away from him when he was involved in a near fatal car accident in November 2013. The hit and run accident resulted in Greg undergoing three surgeries – neck, spine and back surgeries were all successful! But after the doctors told him he may never play golf again and that his career from a competitive standpoint was certainly over, in typical Greg Luther fashion, he set out to prove them all wrong!

Now about to turn 49 Greg is daily chasing his dream of getting into the best shape of his life; and with just 13 more months to go until he turns 50 (March, 2018), don’t bet against him and his return to play at the highest level!

After returning this year to competitive golf and winning again in February of 2017, The Beaufort Gazette asked Greg if he was back? “Ya, I’d say I’m pretty much back!”

Stay tuned for a very exciting future!

Welcome to Greg Luther Golf Schools

Thank you for your interest in Greg Luther Golf Schools, home of the world’s premier golf school. Our mission is to provide you with extraordinary golf instruction and outstanding service.

Greg LutherGreg has been involved in teaching and coaching many different sports over the last twenty five years, but it was golf that captured his heart. His passion and attention to detail is very evident, and as soon as you meet him you know just how much he loves the game. A proven player in his own right, Greg's knowledge, ability to motivate, and desire to get the best out of his students, may be unmatched by anyone else in golf. Nobody loves playing, or teaching the game more. Greg started teaching children clinics in 1988 at Windmill Lakes GC, and along the way has taught in South Africa, Mexico, France, and several locations here in America. Greg after chasing his dream of playing professional golf(including 2009 U.S. Open Qualifying), decided that his talents would be better served teaching and coaching.

In 2006 Greg took a position with Gary Gilchrist at the IJGA on Hilton Head Island. He stayed on to work with Hank Haney through 2008. Rejoining Gary in Florida was one of the best decisions he ever made according to Greg. Spending the next two years working along side Gilchrist helped to shape and mold Greg into one of the best Trainers in the world. The summer of 2011 Greg Luther Golf Schools was launched. "It's been a lot of hard work, and it was worth all of my effort"!
